In this world where gowns, castles, and crowns make for the perfect reflections, life isn’t always as it appears. Love is elusive, even when the most beautiful woman is right before you. Illusions distort visions, shadows lurk in the sunshine, and monsters tread behind smiles and chivalrous facades.
I, Roman Archibald Godfrey, swore an oath to Molave.
To the king.
And above all, to Princess Lucille.
Forget the fairytales you’ve heard. This world is ruthless.
Have you been Aleatha’d?
From New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a brand-new contemporary romantic-suspense series, Royal Reflections, set in the world of the royal elite, where things are not as they appear.
*RUTHLESS REIGN is book one of the Royal Reflections series.
OMG! Where do I begin? Ruthless Reign delivered a story which will slowly pull you in, twist you around, mess with your mind and leave you wondering what the heck you just read. To receive the full effect of this story, one needs to go in blindly and so my review will be deliberately vague.
The story hidden between the pages of Ruthless Reign was complex, riveting, and suspenseful. It will have you flipping the pages as you try to figure what next is going to happen. So prepare for a journey into the unexpected. All is not as it seems in Oliver and Lucille’s world. Political intrigue, conspiracy, betrayal and secrets drove this story.
Readers will enjoy getting to know the main characters, Lucille an Oliver. They are both compelling characters who you will want to cheer on. They both got caught up in a situation bigger than them both. A situation where they don’t know who to trust and so every move they make has to be done with caution. Readers will feel empathy towards Lucille and her situation. Marrying a prince doesn’t mean living a fairy tale life, a lesson Lucille learnt in the past five years.
The chemistry and energy between the protagonists is intense. At first, their attraction to each other felt out of place, but as secrets unfolded, things became so much clearer and soon they couldn’t stay away from each other. One may feel uncomfortable at first reading about the developing relationship between the protagonists, but as stated earlier all is not as it seems.
The plot was bold and risky with many twists and secrets which amped up the tension in the story, therefore making it hard to put the book down. It ended on a shocking note, and I am still reeling from it. Now I wait to learn what other surprises await us in Resilient Reign which release January 2023.

Love it when a book is hard to put down! I’ll check this one out.
I am so glad that you ended up loving this one so much. I hear all the good things about this author but quite frankly I have no clue where to begin with her stuff haha but this one sounds superb! I am glad it was able to evoke such strong feelings for you.
Great review!
What a wonderful review. I can tell you loved the book!
That sure sounds like it would be well worth the read.
I’ve yet to read her books, but have seen so many glowing reviews that I’ve added her books to my kindle. I like how you describe this ‘royal romance’ as something darker. You are tempting me to this series now. 🙂
