Miller

They called me the pretty boy on and off the ice. Hockey’s most eligible bachelor.
When my teammate asked me to donate one date to his charity, I figured why not. Worst case, I’d spend the night with a fan. Best-case scenario, she would be hot. What I wasn’t expecting was for my dream girl to be the highest bidder.
For years, she brushed me off, and now, I finally had a chance to take her out and show her who I really was.
With only one shot at this, I really hoped I didn’t mess it up.

Layla

At the top of my career, I was riding the wave of my sports talk show having the best rating on the radio.
I also made it a rule to never date any sports players.
It was my one rule, and I was sticking to it until I bid on the only man who gets under my skin.
All it takes is one touch, one night, one kiss, and only one chance.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I could not wait to get my hands on this little gem. I looked forward to ?Only Once Chance, Layla and Miller’s story ever since I met them in Only One Kiss.

Four years, that’s how long Miller has been trying to get Layla to give him a chance. However, she shot down every attempt he made. Her reasons ranged from not liking him to thinking he was self-absorbed and arrogant. Then the unthinkable happened while in inebriated, she made a bid twenty-five thousand dollars for a date with him at a charity auction. On realizing the following day what she did, she tried many creative ways to get out of the deal, but Miller was not about to let his chance of proving to her he would be worth it to go up in smoke.

I had a great time with the second book in Only One series. The books in the series are self-contained, however, the main characters from each installment appear in the all the books. Layla made Miller jump through several hoops prior to giving a chance. She would learn her pre-conceived notions were way ‘off mark. The more time she spent with him she saw a side to him she never would have known if she hadn’t given him a chance.

I loved Miller, romantic, caring and thoughtful. Although clueless when it came to dealing with fans of the female persuasion, he eventually learned what was acceptable and what was not for a famous person in a relationship. The fact he attempted to effect changes made him a hero in my eyes.

It took me sometime to warm up to Layla and just as I started liking her, I discovered she had a secret, one which almost destroyed what she had begun building with Miller. I couldn’t believe it after all she had put him through. Is not like it was something bad, but she should have been honest with him from the moment she recognised that their relationship had become serious. She redeemed herself, but the events showed the importance of honesty in relationships.

The story had several laugh out loud moments. My favourite scene involved Miller’s interaction with Layla’s grandmother. I almost fell from my chair the way I laughed so hard. Poor Miller, probably scarred for life, I know I would be if I found myself in such a situation.

The author treated her readers to two epilogues. Both were outstanding, but the second one left me salivating for the next book in the series. Now, that one, I can’t wait to see how it will play out.

Conclusion/Recommendation

Once again Madison created a story which featured relatable characters and one which held my attention from start to finish. If you enjoy romance, which features hot athletes, then ?Only One Chance would be a great addition to your library.

About Natasha Madison

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…
