🎧︎Blade of Darkness is the seventh book in the Immortal Guardian series. I am slowly making my way through the series and I am enjoying the journey. With each book, I expect excitement, danger, humour and romance and delivered it in spades.

Dana Pembroke has been able to glimpse the future of those she touches for as long as she can remember. But she never saw Aidan coming. When the tall, dark Celt with the charming grin yet world-weary eyes walks through her door, the future she sees for him is one full of violence, danger, deception... and passion. Because amidst the terrifying battles that unfold in her visions, she also sees herself in Aidan's arms and in his bed. Dana knows she should keep her distance, but the tender moments and laughter they share entice her even as she finds herself thrust into a world of vampires, immortals, and other preternatural beings.
Immortal Guardian Aidan O'Byrne has been hunting and slaying psychotic vampires for nearly three thousand years, so visions of bloody battles don't trouble him. The battles Dana foresees, however, show Aidan's brethren turning against him, so he can't help but feel alarmed. While he spends as much time as he can with Dana, struggling to decipher her dire predictions, Aidan finds himself utterly smitten. Hope rises that he has finally found a woman who can banish the darkness and loneliness that plague him. But when vampires begin targeting Dana and a powerful enemy spawns chaos, will fate grant them time to find happiness together?

🎧︎Blade of Darkness tells us Aidan’s story. At 3000 years old, Aidan is the oldest immortal guardian. Living for three thousand years led to him living a lonely existence. This feeling of loneliness has gotten so bad he began looking for gifted females, hoping to find the one with whom he would spend eternity with. His search led him to psychic Dana Pembroke.

During a psychic reading with the beautiful Dana, he saw images which gave him hope he may have found his soul mate. However, someone disguised as Aiden is kidnapping gifted females he came in contact with. This means Dana is at risk. Aiden needs to clear his name while protect Dana and securing his chance of spending eternity with her.

Aidan intrigued me ever since his introduction in Night Unbound, and I wanted to learn more about him. Being 3000 years old, he is old-fashioned but in a sexy way. He is also gentle, protective and little on the nerdy side. Aidan is a telepath and a healer who possessed teleportation and telekinetic abilities. This made him the second strongest Immortal Guardian.

I enjoyed getting to know Dana. Her strength, confidence and bravery made her the perfect match for Aidan. From the moment they met Aidan and Dana hit it off. Their connection felt genuine and their interactions were so delightful. Aidan wanted to ease her slowly into his world and so he held off on telling her about his abilities. However, unforeseen events saw her thrown into his world with no prior warnings. It shocked her at first, but after the shock wore off she embraced all his world offered. I loved how she was right there in the mix of things and it was endearing to see her come to Aidan’s defense. She certainly held her own amid the danger and around the other Immortal Guardians.

The secondary characters helped to make the story shine with their witty banter and unwavering support of each other. There is never a dull moment when this motley crew is around.

Duvall weaved a story that was tense, dramatic, action packed and designed to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. I enjoyed the romance, but with danger lurking at every corner, it didn’t get lots of page time. However, with what it received and despite the instant connection, it felt authentic.

🎧︎Blade of Darkness is a wonderful paranormal romance with tons of action and suspense. If you haven’t tried this series, I highly recommend you give it a try.

Kirsten Potter continues to narrate the series and she does a splendid job. She is the voice of the characters for me.  She does a great job with both male and female voices.  I loved her interpretation of Adian’s Scottish accent, which I thought was spot on. She brought life to the story.
