REVIEW

The first two times that I had read this author’s work I must admit that they did not provide me with the desired effect I was hoping for.  As a result, when I was offered an ARC in exchange for a honest review I was somewhat hesitant as I feared being disappointed once again. You may be wondering what led me to change my mind.  Well the synopsis was what grabbed me, I was intrigued by the premise and as they ‘The third time’s a charm’.
First of all I must warn you that this book is not for the feint of heart, so if you feel that you are unable to handle stories that are dark in nature then you should probably avoid this one. However, if you like these kind stories, then you need to get yourself a copy.  Twenty-one is the type of story that will keep you on your toes. There was nothing predictable about this story at all. It will keep you guessing from start to finish.
I enjoy stories with a strong heroine and Sky was that for me. She is determined and loyal and it was these characteristics that would prove to be her saviour. It did not seem that way at first, but as events unfold it became obvious. She demonstrated strength in the face of adversity. Angel is not your typical romance hero. His name was not a reflection of who he was. He is a cold blooded killer and the son of a mafia boss. Angel was good at what he does which made him the perfect candidate to break Sky within 21 days to get her to reveal the secret his father believed she was hiding.  However, things did not go as expected and Sky would prove to be Angel’s Achilles heel.
This book contained all the ingredients that make for a great story. If you are looking for action, suspense and drama Twenty-one is filled with it.   This is a story of lies, secrets, pain, betrayal and courage. It’s not the type of story that one would expect to have a happily ever after as it’s not your typical feel good romance. This story was not sweet, tender or romantic. There are scenes that may make you flinch.
Although this story was filled with themes of a violent nature, I found to be an enjoyable read. It took me out of my comfort zone, but I have to admit that it was worth it.
