Eastern Lights by Brittainy Cherry may just be my top read for 2021. I went into this book with high expectations and it did not disappoint.

I loved every moment of this story, be it frustrating or happy moments. Cherry delivered an emotional second chance romance featuring characters you will both love and hate.

I loved how well developed the characters were and the growth they showed throughout the story made for a splendid read.

Aaliyah and Connor have been through so much, which had me rooting for them to find happiness. Their fears felt so real and relatable. It dominated their lives so much it brought heart-breaking pain to them both. Amidst the heartbreak and pain, the characters experienced fun, romantic and inspiring moments.

Cherry did an awesome job in creating a swoon worthy hero. Connor possessed so many good qualities, one cannot but help fall for him. Not that he didn’t have faults, but they didn’t take away from his awesome characteristics.

Aaliyah’s lack of love in her life from an early age led to her searching for it in all the wrong places. A search which led to her falling for men who treat her less than she deserves. So meeting Connor, developing a friendship with him and subsequently falling for him taught her that love with the right person can be a wonderful and emotional experience.

The secondary characters proved to be an interesting group of people. Some I liked and then were those which left me with a bitter taste.

Eastern Lights hit all the right spots. Connor and Aaliyah’s story is not one I will forget soon. Fans of romance should add this book to their shelves.

Favourite Quotes

“I once had a teacher who taught me that there are two things in life a person can never prepare for, no matter how hard they try. Those two things are love and death.”

“If life needed a reason for existence, love is the solution.”

“It’s better to sit with the ugly truths than bathe in the beautiful lies.”

I feel bad for whoever it is that gets to love you next’, he whispered, his lips almost brushing against mine. ‘They will never be worthy of the magnitude of love you’ll give to them.’

‘Your mere existence is reason enough for you to be loved.’
