TEASER TUESDAY (24)

Posted on August 25, 2015 by Nadene @ Totally Addicted to Reading in Reviews / 7 Comments

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of MizB of A Daily Rhythm.. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
โ€ข Grab your current read
โ€ข Open to a random page
โ€ข Share two (2) โ€œteaserโ€ sentences from somewhere on that page
โ€ข BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesnโ€™t give too much away! You donโ€™t want to ruin the book for others!)
โ€ข Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teasers today are from

X

by

SUE GRAFTON

BLURB

XThe number ten. An unknown quantity. A mistake. A cross. A kiss.

X:  The shortest entry in Websterโ€™s Unabridged. Derived from Greek and Latin and commonly found in science, medicine, and religion. The most graphically dramatic letter. Notoriously tricky to pronounce: think xylophone.

X:  The twenty-fourth letter in the English alphabet.

Sue Graftonโ€™s X: Perhaps her darkest and most chilling novel, it features a remorseless serial killer who leaves no trace of his crimes. Once again breaking the rules and establishing new paths, Grafton wastes little time identifying this sociopath. The test is whether Kinsey can prove her case against him before she becomes his next victim.

TEASER 1

When it comes to work, it isnโ€™t so much what we do or how much weโ€™re paid; itโ€™s the satisfaction we take in doing it.

TEASER 2

When I passed the front desk on my way out, Kim Bass, Receptionist, was nowhere to be seen. This was fortunate, as I was so irritated with the way sheโ€™d treated me, I might have bitten her on the arm. Iโ€™d been a biter as a kid and I can still remember the feel of flesh between my teeth. Itโ€™s like biting a rubber bathing cap, in case youโ€™re curious.

What do you think? Do you want to read more?

  1. I know my husband wishes the first teaser were true for him. He hates his job so there isn't much satisfaction there. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am looking forward to reading this book quite a bit.
