The only desire billionaire Stefano Moretti has for his estranged wife, Anna, is revenge—she humiliatingly left him weeks ago. So when Anna returns to his life, with no memory of their tempestuous marriage, he’s certain fate has dealt him a winning hand.
Stefano’s plan is twofold: a private seduction that will reawaken Anna to their red-hot attraction, followed by a public humiliation to match the one she landed on him.
Q and A with Michelle Smart author of
ONCE a MORETTI WIFE
1) How do you choose your characters’ names?
With great difficulty! Sometimes I’ll hear a name and immediately store it away for future reference, other times I’m quite liable to spend hours searching for the perfect name to match the character I have in mind.
2) What is your favorite part about writing Contemporary Romance books?
Writing all the heady emotions that come with them. They can be as much of a roller-coaster to write as they are to read.
3) Do you have any traditions you enjoy during early Spring?
Nope!
4) When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Probably when I realised I would never get paid for being a reader! I’ve always been a bookworm and always loved both reading and creating my own worlds.
5) How long does it take you to write a book?
It depends on the book. Some are harder to write than others. Some might only take me a month, others much longer.
6) What kind of research did you have to do to prepare you to write this book?
7) How many books have you written? Do you have a favorite?
I’ve just started writing number eighteen for Harlequin Presents. Of them all, I can’t choose a favourite , but I can choose a top three, and Once a Moretti Wife is one of them! The other two are Talos Claims His Virgin and the yet-to-be-released Buying His Bride of Convenience. Funnily enough, going back to your question about how long it takes for me to write a book, these three were probably the quickest to write!
8) What book are you reading right now?
I’m currently re-reading all my old Patricia Cornwell books and am up to Cruel & Unusual.
9) What are your current projects?
I’m almost three chapters in book number eighteen for Harlequin Presents.
10) What advice do you have for writers?
Keep writing and keep reading. Writing, like anything, takes practice. The more you do it, the better your writing will become.
GUEST POST
Song Playlist:
A prepared playlist of songs that embodies the book’s characters and their love story.
I always create a new playlist when I start a new book, songs that I hope will feed me the emotion I’m aiming for. The top ten listened to on the Once a Moretti Wife playlist are:
· Apologize by One Republic featuring Timbaland
· Happy Ending by Mika
· Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac
· I Miss You by Blink 182
· Way Down We Go by Kaleo
· With or Without You by U2
· Princess of China by Coldplay & Rhianna
· Jealous Guy by Roxy Music
· Shout by Tears for Fears
· Wicked Game by Chris Isaak.
How-to Tips for Aspiring Writers:
Tips for those looking to get their work published/break into the industry.
The best tip I can give to any aspiring author is to buy Stephen King’s book On Writing*. What it comes down to in a nutshell, is that to be a writer, you have to be a reader, and you must persevere. Keep reading, keep writing and perfect your craft. *Please, get it. Read it. It’s perfect for all writers.
Writer’s Space:
Photos and a brief description of the place where they do their writing.
I moved house a few weeks ago and, for the first time ever, I have my own office/mini library! As you can see from the photos, there’s still a lot to be done, including eleven boxes of books to still be unpacked (they’re in the garage), curtains to be hung and pictures to put up. Oh, and a desk to tidy!
Love Lessons Learned:
Real life romance lessons learned from the book.
I wish I could answer this with something really profound and life-changing or life-affirming but, alas, I can’t. All I can say is that writing this book was like a roller-coaster and I loved every minute of it.
Movie Star Cast:
The author picks movie stars to play the characters in a movie.
Aha, now this is a question I can really get my teeth into, because every time I start on a new book, the first thing I do is start a Pinterest board.
As you will see if you follow the link, in this book I cast Emily Blunt as Anna and Gleb Savchenko as Stefano. Okay, so Gleb’s a dancer (think Strictly Come Dancing if you’re in the UK and Dancing with the Stars if you’re in the US) rather than a film star, but I’m sure with a few acting lessons he’d be perfect to play him!
Spring Rituals:
The author describes any rituals she does in Spring.
Oh dear. I’m sorry to say that Spring means nothing to me other than additional daylight and the need to sort my toenails out in preparation for them possibly being on display again. Now, if this question was about Christmas rituals, I could write for ages about that, so come back to me later in the year!
