I enjoyed Knight of Ruins, the first book in the Druid Knights series, and was excited to continue Arik and Rebecca’s adventure. History, time travel, romance, magic, mystery and intrigue await you in Knight of Rapture.

Convenient accidents begin happening putting those she cares for in the line of fire. And then there’s the unexpected arrival of a strange man dressed like he belonged in a medieval fair—a man who somehow is always around when needed, and always on her mind. Knight of Rapture, the second book in the Druid Knights series, picks up from where Knight of Ruins ended. In book one, historian, Dr. Rebeka Taylor travelled back in time to the 17th century granting her the chance to reunite with the love of life, Lord Arik. In Knight of Rapture, Rebeka and Arik are happily married, however their blissful life would be interrupted. Arik’s nemesis tricks Rebeka into the last time portal, catapulting her back to the twenty – first century and leaving Arik to mourn her departure. However, he underestimated the power of their love. They both would stop at nothing to find their way back to each other.

The events of book one took readers to the 17th century. Knight of Runes, however, focuses on the present with Arik experiencing life in the modern world. This installment delivered a wonderful blend of fantasy, historical romance, time travel, adventure, intrigue and suspense.

I had fun reconnecting with Rebeka, and Arik and interacting with the characters featured in this installment. Now Rebeka is generally a smart woman. However, a dumb moment resulting in reckless and stupid actions contributed to her memory loss. I understood her need to find her way back to Arik, but she failed to examine the situation from all angles. I loved how Arik handled her memory loss. His patience in this installment was a stark contrast to his actions in the previous book. His patience overrode his desire to transport her back to the past, which was a wise move on his part.

The story ended on a good note, with all threads relating to Arik and Rebecca’s story tying up. However, it left the reader hoping for a second chance for a specific character. Also, it would be nice if to see the others get their own stories as well.

Now, although I enjoyed the story, I struggled with a few things. The first relates to Arik’s ability to adapt to the modern with such ease. Also, the way a particular set of characters in the present world bought into the concept of time travel without question.

Overall, an enjoyable read, which fans of time travel, medieval times, magic and romance will enjoy.
