Sometimes the biggest risk isn’t falling in love. It’s trusting someone enough to let them stay. This is at the heart of Carrie Ann Ryan’s latest release, His Guilty Pleasure, the eleventh book in the Montgomery Ink Legacy series. Friends with benefits? Sounds like a perfect arrangement until someone catches feelings! And when Aly realizes she wants more than friendship with Dash, things get complicated.

Meet Dash and Aly, best friends who have a friends-with-benefits arrangement. An arrangement that seems perfect for them. After all, they enjoy each other’s company and have great chemistry, so keeping things strictly physical with no strings, no expectations, and definitely no feelings should be easy. Or so they thought! When Aly realizes her feelings have changed, she ends their arrangement, determined to get over Dash and return their friendship to the way it was. Easier said than done, especially when Dash refuses to let her face life’s challenges alone. As he steps up to help her, Aly must decide whether she is ready to put her fears aside and trust that Dash isn’t going anywhere. But someone has other plans for these two and made it their duty to keep them apart.
Aly and Dash’s friendship was the foundation of their physical relationship, and I enjoyed watching it develop into something deeper. Aly has a hard time trusting when it comes to love. Past hurts have left her guarded, and despite her growing feelings for Dash, she struggles to let him in. She prefers keeping him at arm’s length rather than risk another broken heart. I understood her hesitation, but I also wanted her to take a chance on Dash.
And Dash? I loved how he showed up for Aly when she needed him most. He not only spoke about being there for her; he stepped in, offered his support, and showed her that she could count on him. His patience and determination made me root for these two even more.
There was plenty of chemistry, heartfelt moments, and drama to keep me turning the pages. I also enjoyed the family dynamics and the added tension from someone determined to sabotage their relationship.
Overall, His Guilty Pleasure delivered an enjoyable romance filled with friendship, family, love, and wonderful characters. I loved watching Dash and Aly navigate their feelings and work through the fears standing in the way of their happily ever after. Another lovely addition to the Montgomery Ink Legacy series!
