The Doctor’s Mistress is the third book in Hurst’s exciting series, The Doctor’s Wife, and like the previous books it delivered a gripping and twisted tale. A tale of two women whose love for a cheater brought nothing but despair in their lives. The wife is on the run for murder. The mistress languishes in prison for a crime she did not commit. In this instalment, both women are caught in a game of cat and mouse with only one outcome, who will have the ultimate revenge.

I was the other woman. The mistress. Everyone blamed Doctor Drew Devlin’s death on me. And I’ve paid the price for loving the wrong man.
Now, I have dark circles under my eyes because I can’t sleep at night. I lost everything – friends, family, my home and even my freedom. Drew’s devious wife Fern tore my whole world apart. And she thinks she’s got away with murder.
But she’s wrong. It’s time for revenge. For myself… and for my baby.
Her new life on the windswept Cornish coast is about to come crashing down around her. I’m determined for everyone to find out the true story. Because now it’s not just my life in danger, I’ve got to protect the doctor’s daughter too.
I know Fern will expect me to come after her – I’m certain she will have her own plan in place to stop me. After all, she’s duped so many people before.
But then again, Fern always did underestimate me. And by the time she realises, it’ll be far too late for the doctor’s wife…
An absolutely addictive psychological thriller with twist after twist from the number one bestselling author of The Doctor’s Wife . If you loved Behind Closed Doors , Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train then The Doctor’s Mistress will keep you reading long into the night!
In The Doctor’s Mistress, Alice, the mistress name is cleared, and she has been released from prison. However, her troubles have just begun. She gave birth to the doctor’s child, and she is not coping well in taking care of the baby. Her prison experience coupled with her obsession for revenge made her life a mess. If it wasn’t for her relationship with the detective who investigated the doctor’s murder, which led to her gong to prison, the poor child would have suffered more.
Alice is not the only who gave birth, Fern is also a new mother. Now not only is she fighting to stay out of prison for herself, she now has a baby to consider. So she is willing to do what it takes to ensure her daughter does not end up in the foster care.
The characters of course are not nice people, but I had my favourite. Despite Fern’s diabolical nature, I secretly hoped she would continue to evade capture. As for Alice, I was never a fan of hers from the beginning and that has not changed even after all that transpired in The Doctor’s Mistress. As for the detective, I am still trying to figure out his reasons for his involvement with Alice. I am not sure if he was with her out of guilt, pity, or both.
Can the Doctor’s Mistress work as a stand-alone? Probably, Hurst provide sufficient information for readers new to the series. However, for full enjoyment, I recommend you start with The Doctor’s Wife and read the series in order.
This is as much detail I am willing to give because to provide more will only lead to spoilers. However, readers who are big fans of the revenge trope will want to pick up this series. Readers can prepare for another fast-paced, twisty, and crazy edge of your seat ride.
