ER nurse Emma Trudeau was tasked with the hospital’s create a wish project for one of many children staying in the PICU during the Christmas holidays. Success of the project meant a promotion and better pay for Emma. She needs Dr. Thad Markson’s help, as he has the connections needed to make the project successful. However, convincing him to assist will be a challenge. Dr. Thad Markson aka the Fifth Avenue Grinch, a recluse, hated Christmas with a passion. Not one to give up, Emma makes it her mission to convince him work with her. Can she convince the Grinch of Fifth Avenue to work with her to granting a Christmas wish?

A Mistletoe Kiss in Manhattan tells the story of two souls who both experienced tragedy in the past, but whom reacted differently to the loss. Emma holds an optimistic view of life while Thad chose to in the pain of his past. A recluse by choice, whose colleagues considered him cold and heartless. The deeper one goes into the story, the more one learns of the events in Thad’s past which led to his current behaviour. These events were quite heartbreaking. Because of this he felt worthless and believes without his career he was nothing.

Emma’s determination to have Thad work with her changed his life. While working with him, she discovers that beneath the grouchy exterior lay a heart of gold. Emma shined her light on his darkness, helping him to see his worth.

The romance which developed between Thad and Emma will warm the heart. They were good together, but challenges in the form of insecurities and self-doubt threatened their budding romance. The moment of intimacy shared between the couple was quite tame, so don’t go into this one expecting any steamy scenes.

A Mistletoe Kiss in Manhattan was a delightful read which will have you believing in Christ miracles. It shows how childhood trauma can affect one’s perspective as an adult. It’s as story about healing, letting go of pain and embracing love.
