Sister to the band’s manager, and lifetime friend, Sheridan Daniels opens her home to Gabriel as a place to recover and hide from the world, as their family had done before. But Gabriel’s teetering on the edge. Can Sheridan pull him back or will all be lost?
Looking for a light and quick read after all the heavy stuff I consumed in the past week, I quickly jumped at the opportunity to read 📚My Girl. I am so glad I did. It delivered a short and spicy friends to lovers romance.
In 📚My Girl we meet Gabriel Stone, a drummer for a popular band. The story began with Gabriel in a motor vehicle accident while on tour. Not only did he receive a career-ending injury, it triggered painful memories from his past. He refuses to get the therapy, preferring to run from the problem. But he would learn, running would not solve his problem and he needed to face the situation head on.
Sheridan, a psychologist and sister to the manager of Gabriel’s band, is in love with him for the past twelve years. She recognized his struggles and tried to get him the help he needed.
📚My Girl sure packed a punch. I enjoyed getting to know the character, with my favourite being Gabriel. Although, his actions frustrated me several times throughout the story. I empathized with Gabriel. It could not be easy dealing with the painful memories. The growth he showed throughout the story felt authentic. Sheridan’s character could have been further developed. Although told from dual POVs, I never felt I really knew her. The story told of her love for Gabriel, her dedication to career and it provide a glimpse of a relationship, but everything else was a mystery beyond that.
I enjoyed the development of their romance, which was of the slow burn, sweet and sexy variety. They have been dancing around their feelings for years. Everyone saw what they failed to acknowledge. It was good seeing them finally getting it right.
📚My Girl provided me with the perfect reprieve from all the craziness taking place around me. It’s perfect for readers looking for a short, sweet and sexy friends to lover romance.
