Wild for You by Kristen Proby is the first book in the Wilds of Montana series. It’s also my first time reading the author’s work. The story treats readers to a cute and sexy small-town romance sprinkled with a smidgen of suspense. It tells the story of a new arrival to Bitterroot Valley who caught the eye of a grumpy, hard-working rancher who happened to be a single father. Perfect for readers who enjoy the grumpy/sunshine, nanny, single dad, and age gap tropes.

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby comes an all-new small-town series set in Montana, starting with WILD FOR YOU, an Age-Gap, Single Dad, Nanny, Grumpy/Sunshine romance!
Remington Wild is a single dad of two adorable kids, and as the oldest son of the Wild family, has recently taken over the Wild River Ranch from his father. Life is crazy, and he’s finally willing to admit that he needs help, and the sooner the better. He has no idea that the beautiful woman he sees every day at Bitterroot Valley Coffee Co. is the woman who would show up for the job.
Erin Montgomery couldn’t get out of Seattle fast enough. It’s not that she doesn’t love her big, loud family, but living in the big city just wasn’t for her. The minute she stepped foot in Bitterroot Valley, she knew she was home. She loves the slower pace, the friendly people, and her job at the coffee shop. Even the smoking hot grumpy guy who stops in every afternoon can’t put a damper on how much she loves small town life!
Thanks to car trouble, and her stubbornness when it comes to using her trust fund, Erin needs a second job and applies for the position of a part-time nanny. She’s surprised to find that it’s Grumpy himself who answers the door at the ranch, but Erin quickly learns that she loves his kids and the ranch, and it’s a no-brainer to take the job. She just has to remind herself to resist the sexy rancher and keep it strictly professional.
Remington is attracted to his younger nanny, and finds himself falling headfirst in love with her. He and his kids have never been happier, and he knows she is the perfect addition to their family for as long as she’s willing to stay. Hopefully forever.
But when secrets are exposed, one of which endangers his children, will their love survive? Or will it tear them apart?

While on holiday, Erin Montgomery fell in love with the small town vibe of Bitterroot Valley. From that moment on, she knew life in the city was not for her. So she gave up her life in the city and moved to a small town located in Montana. Determined to forge her own path without the help of her trust fund and the influence that comes with her family’s name, she took a job in a coffee shop so she could pay her bills. A job that brought her loads of satisfaction. Interacting with the customers brought her joy. However, there was one exception: the customer she nicknamed Grumpy. Now, her need for another job arose when her motor car broke down. She accepted a job for the position of nanny, but then she discovered her new boss was none other than her grumpy customer.

Wild for You is an enjoyable read from start to finish. This is not to say the story was not without its faults. However, the effect this had on my enjoyment was minimal. Erin embarked on a journey of self-discovery. This journey opened up a whole new life. On this journey, she discovers the beauty of small-town life. She made a few friends along the way. In addition to making friends, she found love and gained another family in the process.

Remington Wild works hard to keep his family’s legacy alive. He’s also a dedicated single father to two adorable kids. Juggling his time between maintaining the ranch and spending time with his children leaves him with little time to smile and appreciate the simple things in life. All that would change with the appearance of Erin in his life. Not only is she the perfect nanny for his son and daughter, she’s perfect for him, too.

Remington and Erin shared an intense and undeniable chemistry, which led to the building of an adorable and steamy romance. I loved that they did not deny what was building between them. They both knew what they wanted and didn’t shy away from pursuing it. The scenes with the children were such a delight. They were well-mannered, and their actions and speech were typical of a five and seven-year-old.

The suspenseful thread that builds throughout the story could have been better developed. Readers get a hint that an incident from Erin’s past is about to rear its ugly head. However, the manner in which it developed felt rushed. Also, Erin’s nonchalance to matter upset me. She never made Remington aware of the situation when she first realized the impending danger. Especially knowing her responsibility for the care of his children. He had to learn about the potential danger from another source.

Despite my issues with the suspense thread, I enjoyed Wild for You and look forward to reading more from Kristen Proby.
