For Love or Money by Kathy DiSanto – Book Tour Campaign

“Whoever said a kiss is just a kiss never locked lips with Brent Maddox.”

Small-town practical to the soles of her size fives, high school English teacher Jen Casey has one weakness—she’s never been able to resist a dare. Ergo, when her BFF Candy Johnson throws down the triple-dog dare gauntlet, Jen has no choice but to accept the challenge. She e-mails former-classmate-turned-millionaire Brent Maddox, offering advice for the lovelorn.

But, really. Is it her fault Celebrity Magazine published the e-mail instead of forwarding it?

See, that’s the problem with dares in Jen’s experience—they almost always have dire consequences. Like Brent Maddox showing up on her doorstep—tall and golden and sexy as sin—determined to get payback. Like finding herself a reluctant guest at his sprawling Malibu hacienda, sentenced to a week of the same high life she blames for his romantic snafus.

Of course sparks start to fly. She’s only human, and Brent is an unexpectedly endearing hunk and a half. Unfortunately, Jen isn’t built for quick and steamy affairs. She’s been dreaming of that love of a lifetime man, and now she’s falling fast. She can run before it’s too late, or stay and take the biggest gamble of her life. Brent promises nights filled with passion, but will he ever offer his heart?

“A sensual, but not explicit romance.” 2sassy2Bsweet

“You’ll giggle your way from page to page and then wipe a tear from your eye as the charming Ms. DiSanto captivates you completely with her deliciously witty, refreshingly clever first romance.” Melinda Helfer, Romantic Times

For Love or Money was a cute and sweet adult contemporary
romance. It was a cheerful and romantic read that is filled with lots of
emotions. I found the dialogue entertaining, the writing excellent, the romance
sweet and the story engaging.
From the moment I read the prologue I was hooked. It was a
great start to the story. It sets the tone for the remainder of the story. This
is where we are introduced to Jen Casey a high school English literature
teacher. Here we see her with her best friend discussing how the male
protagonist, Brent Maddox, was clueless when it came to dating and choosing the
right woman. (Now this was coming from someone who has never had a serious
relationship).  Her friend dared her to
email Celebrity Magazine with the hope that they would forward the email to
Brent. The purpose of the email was to provide him with some sage dating advice.  Now being a woman who was addicted to taking
dares, she took the challenge and did just that and oh what an email it was.

“Dear Brent,
No doubt it’s the teacher in me, but when I saw the article about you
in the June issue of Celebrity Magazine, I had to write. Because, you know,
education is my life. That makes it almost impossible for me to turn my back on
anyone as desperately in need of remedial instruction as you seem to be. Funny,
you’re the last person I’d have expected to need tutoring in this particular
subject. When we were classmates at Donnerton High, you earned a perfect 4.0 in
romance for four years running. I’m not sure how you dropped so many grade
points since then, but I am sure the ABCs and 123s will come back to you with a
little help from your friends. So, let’s get started”.

Alas, things did not go has planned. Instead of the email
being forwarded, it was published. The outcome as a result made for a fun and
entertaining read. Many times I found myself laughing out while reading.
It was a joy to read about the characters. They were
likeable and relatable. Initially Jen came off as a snob. She was very
judgemental when it came to wealthy persons.
However, as the story progressed we see her finally accepting that she
had been wrong in her perceptions.  The
chemistry between Jen and Brent was off the charts. Brent was bowled over by
Jen. She was unlike any woman he had ever dated.
What I liked about this story was that they took time to
know each other before taking their relationship to the next level. If you are
one of those readers who love romance stories that contains explicit love
scenes then you will be disappointed.  However, it should be noted that in spite of
this the story is one that can be enjoyed no matter what. This just goes to
show sex is not required to make a romance story enjoyable.
This is my first time reading the author’s work and I must
say I was impressed with her writing style.
The story flowed and was easy to follow. The pace was well balanced and
all the scenes blended well together. I can’t wait to read more from this
author.
N.B.  This is the first book in the Golden States Hearts trilogy and it can be read as a
stand-alone.
