Date of Publication: December 18, 2015

You’ve all met the children and Eleanora and Tom English…but how exactly did down-on-her luck waitress, Eleanora Watters, meet trust fund hottie, Tom English?
You won’t want to miss this Christmas novel that tells the story of how Eleanora met Tom, while he was visiting Vail in the 1980s.

“Why The Swiss Family Robinson?” she asked in an effort to make conversation that would steer them to safer waters.
He chuckled softly, the noise welcome on the warm winter breeze. “I was wondering when you’d ask me about that.”
“It’s not an obvious choice.”
He shrugged. “But it’s my favorite. I think it’s the main character, the oldest brother, Fritz. He’s intelligent and strong, but impetuous. I always liked him.”
“No wonder.”
“What does that mean?”
“It sounds like you,” she said, pushing a long lock of blonde hair behind her ear.
He preened internally from her praise, accepting and savoring it as they walked into the moonlight.
“But isn’t it Fitz?” she asked. “Like Fitzwilliam?”
“No, Burnett,” he teased. “It’s Fritz with an r. A German name for a Swiss family.”
“Ah.” She sighed, then cocked her head, looking up at him. “But you have to admit that Fitz sounds nicer. Like Fitzwilliam Darcy.”
Mr. Darcy. You’re an Austen fan.”
“Show me a woman who isn’t!”
He laughed again, pulling his arm away from her so that he could find his room key in his pocket and show it to the pool gate attendant. A moment later, they were afforded access to the dark, quiet patio surrounding the glowing blue pool.
“So why else is it your favorite?” she asked.
“I guess I liked the sense of adventure. The idea of living on a deserted island. And, well, if I’m honest, I loved the idea of four brothers. I grew up alone, and I would—oh, I don’t know. I guess I was a little jealous of the Robinsons with all those brothers.”

Wow! I am still in awe after reading Marrying Mr. English. The story was nothing short of magnificent.  I have to admit that this is my favourite Katy Regnery book thus far. This story had all the feels. I laughed and cried. It engaged me in every possible way.  I have not read the other books in the series. However, after reading this installment, I will have to read the other books in the series.
Tom English is from a wealthy family. However, he faced the possibility of losing his inheritance if he did not get married by the end of his 31st year. His attempts to meet his grandfather’s demands were derailed when his fiance dumped him for her ski instructor.  Feeling that he had no options left, he decided to go skiing in Vail with his best friend. While there he met Eleanora Watters.
Eleanora is a waitress at a restaurant located in Vail, Colorado.  She is 22 years old. Her life was not what you would consider glamorous.
When  5 years old, her mother left her to be raised by her father, who was a functioning alcoholic. Eleanora dreamed of a better life, therefore, she left home at 19 years old to secure a positive future for her cousin and herself.  She was not interested in dating any of the wealthy men she encountered on a daily basis. However, when she laid eyes on Tom English, the idea of dating someone wealthy did not seem such a bad thing at all.
Tom is a man of integrity.  He is reliable and dependable.  I liked that he stood up to his grandfather in regards to his inheritance.  Initially, I thought his grandfather was unfeeling. However, as the story progressed the reason for his actions became clear. At that moment, my respect for him bore fruit.  Eleanora was feisty, smart and ambitious. It was these traits that attracted Tom. She discovered that Tom was not shallow and that his money did not define him.  Although these two did not move in the same circles, it was evident that they were perfect for each other. He was her dream come true and she his miracle.
I found this to be a quick read. I read it in one sitting.  The story was well developed.  The writing was good, which came as no surprise.  I could not put my kindle down. I was eager to find out the outcome.  The characters were likable and interesting.  I enjoyed the interaction between Eleanora and Tom. I loved how she kept him grounded.
Marrying Mr. English is a story that demonstrates the power of love.  It depicts that no matter what life hands us, love can overcome all obstacles.
If you are a fan of contemporary romance, you will love this story.
