Review :Southern Storm by Natasha Madison

Southern Storm by Natasha Madison is the third book in the Southern series. It gives us Beau and Savannah’s story.   Book one ended with Beau discovering the secret Savannah had been keeping for the past eight years. A secret, which almost destroyed her along with Jacob and Kallie’s relationship.  (Jacob and Callie were the couple from the first book in the series).

Based on Savannah’s role in destroying Jacob and Kallie’s relationship, I came prepared to dislike her.  However, on learning the truth and getting to know her on a deeper level, my feelings towards her changed. I don’t condone what she did, but based on the situation she found herself in which at the time was scary for someone so young I understood the reason for her irrational decision. This story revealed the depth of her strength. She didn’t allow the gossip, name calling and a host of other issues to break her. However, sometimes the situation can become overwhelming and the need to give up intensifies.  As attacks against her escalate she felt this need, but she would learn that not everyone hated her as she believed by the support and encouragement provided when her enemies tried to get the better of her. Also, with the help of her best friend Beau she would learn that true love had the power to overcome the pains of her past.

Beau have been in love with Savannah since they were teenagers. However, he thought she never shared the same sentiment. Then the situation involving his best friend Jacob only helped to reinforce this belief. However, when the truth of the situation came to light, he saw an opportunity to protect Savannah and reveal to her that his feelings went beyond friendship.

This story took me on a heart breaking and tear-jerking journey, which was sprinkled with hope, love and forgiveness. The road to true love is never smooth and Southern Storms was the perfect depiction of that statement.

I enjoyed spending time with the characters, however there were some I found despicable. Savannah’s mother was a piece of work and don’t even get me started on Beau’s father.

I adored how the romance developed. Theirs was a love that grew from strength to strength as the years went by. It remained steadfast despite all the storms it faced. However, there were moments when I wanted to knock some sense into them. I can’t believe they could be so clueless.

The revelation at the end forms the basis for the next book in the series and I am eager to see how it will unfold. Readers should read the series in order, for although it features different couples the stories are interconnected.

Conclusion/Recommendation

I found Southern Storm to be a lovely addition to the Southern series and one I  would recommend to fans of friends to lovers romance.

About Natasha Madison

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…

This title is almost the same as another book I read this year. I am not the biggest fan of books with the same titles.
