USA Today
bestselling author RC Boldt brings us a sizzling romance chock-full of intrigue and deceit in this brand new romantic suspenseโ€ฆ
All that's forgotten isn't always gone...
Iโ€™m at deathโ€™s doorstep when my body washes up on shore in Panama.
My memory is a blank slate. I canโ€™t even remember my name. I donโ€™t know who shot me and left me for deadโ€”or why.
Patient and kind, the lone doctor there mends my body while offering me refuge.
As tiny flashbacks of my past occur, I wonder if thereโ€™s anyone I can trust.
Itโ€™s up to me to discover whether Iโ€™m in danger or a danger to others. Whether Iโ€™ve actually found love or if itโ€™s all been a lie.
I need answers to find out who I really am.
If only I could remember.

The synopsis for Washed Away by R.C Boldt captured my attention and soon I sought a copy for review. It didnโ€™t matter that I had no knowledge of or experience with the author. The fact the story fell within the amnesia trope and the promise of romance and suspense provided sufficient incentive for me wanting to get my hands on this book. Of course, the cover also played its role in capturing my undivided attention.

Washed Away is one of those books where you need to go in completely blind. I will be deliberately vague in my review. Now I went into this book expecting a non-stop action, suspense with romance served on the side. However, the story started out slow and maintained that pace for the first half of the book. I thought about setting aside several times. However, as I am not one to throw in the towel so quickly, I held on. I am happy I did.

By the time I reached the second half of the book, I could not put it down. This was where everything came full circle. Soon, shots were being fired, the main characters running for their lives, not knowing whom to trust as bounties are on both their heads. Luckily, they spent the first half of the book exploring the chemistry between them, be it reluctantly on the heroโ€™s part.

The story is told in first person POV, alternating between the hero and the heroine. We also gain insight into heroineโ€™s past through journal entries. As time goes by, fragments of her memories came to her through dreams.ย These snippets of information had me guessing as to the heroineโ€™s identity and the circumstances that led to her current situation.ย I had an interesting time uncovering the many layers of the hero.

Despite the slow pacing in the initial stages, Washed Away ended up being an interesting tale of revenge, redemption and love.ย ย
