When the time came for me to review this title, I was at a loss as to where to begin. This is in no way a reflection on the story or the author. It was a good read, even though it was predictable.ย  I found it easy to figure out certain aspects of the story before it occurred.ย  ย However, this did not detract from my enjoyment of the story.

Bedlam tells the story of Anaya, Ignacio, and Tony.ย  Anaya and Tony were the protagonists while Ignacio had the role of the antagonist. Anaya, an interior decorator,ย  spent most of her life in foster after being abandoned by her parents.ย  While in High school she met Ignacio, who became the centre of her world.ย  Ignacio is currently the head of one of the biggest crime families in the city. They have been together for twelve years. One would probably think that spending twelve years together would mean that all was well. However, this was not so in Anayaโ€™s case. She spent twelve years of her life in a loveless relationship.ย  A relationship that was not based on mutual respect and where she was treated like a possession.ย  As a result, she sought refuge in her work and her best friend. The only thing she wanted was to be loved and feel like she mattered.

Anaya was hired to decorate the hottest nightclub in the city. In the process of carrying out her commission, she met Tony.ย  This meeting would change her life in a way she never could imagine. Would this change make her life better or will it make it more complicated?ย  If you want to know the answer to this question then you need to get a copy of Bedlam.

The story was told from a dual POV. I like this as it allows me to understand what the characters are thinking and feeling.ย  Understanding things from each of the characterโ€™s perspective makes the story real for me. The characters were three dimensional.ย  It was interesting to read about their past.ย  Knowledge of their past helped me to understand their actions in their present situation.

It’s my belief that the sex occurred too soon. The characters did not get enough time to know each other before they began jumping each otherโ€™s bones. The good thing was that the sex did not dominate the story.ย  Although the pacing was steady, I felt the ending that the ending came too fast.

This is the authorโ€™s first novel and it was a good attempt. It was not perfect, but it was enough to keep me reading to the end.ย ย  Overall, I found this to be an ok read.
