🎧︎Home for a Cowboy Christmas delivered a delightful, slow burn Christmas romance with a dash of suspense. Witness to a murder at the hands of a mob boss placed Emmy Garrett’s life in danger. To guarantee her safety, the US Marshalls placed her in protective custody. However, a leak in the department, revealed that protective custody was an illusion. To ensure she stayed alive to testify against the mob boss, Dalton, the US Marshall who saved her from an assassin, took her to stay with his friend, Dwight Reynolds, on his ranch deep in the mountains of Montana.
Title: Home for a Cowboy Christmas
The most wonderful time of the year has arrived for this cowboy in New York Times bestseller Donna Grant's next novel, Home for a Cowboy Christmas. Tis the season-for everyone except Emmy Garrett. She's on the run after witnessing a crime. But when it becomes clear that trouble will continue following her, the US Marshal in charge takes her somewhere no one will think to look-Montana. Not only is Emmy in a new place for her protection, but now, she's stuck with a handsome cowboy as her bodyguard . . . and she wants to do more than kiss him under the mistletoe. Dwight Reynolds left behind his old career, but it's still in his blood. When an old friend calls in a favor, Dwight opens his home to a woman on the run. He tries to keep his distance, but there's something about Emmy he can't resist. She stokes his passion and turns his cold nights into warm ones. When danger shows up looking for Emmy, Dwight risks everything to keep her safe. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. 🎧︎Home for a Cowboy Christmas was such a wonderful story. From the moment I started reading, I knew it would be an engaging read. The story pulled me in, making it difficult to put down.
The romance featured began as a tiny spark and slowly developed into a blazing inferno. It was fun getting to know both Emmy and Dwight. It was also a pleasure getting acquainted with Dwight’s sister Victoria and his dog, Sam. Victoria brought some levity to the story, while Sam provided comfort.
Emmy was such a brave soul. A woman with guts. One would think that after staring down the barrel of a gun, she would change her mind about testifying. Instead, she did what she believed was right for justice to prevail. Dwight is no ordinary cowboy. The story introduced him as a former military officer, FBI agent and Homeland Security agent. Definitely a badass and the perfect person to protect Emmy. His protective nature and his feelings for Emmy shun throughout the story. Sam, taking a shine to Emmy and providing her the comfort she needed, gave an additional feeling of warmth to the story.
The suspense which bounced off the pages had me on edge. I felt like a nervous Nellie at every page turn wondering when the hitman will find Emmy. Despite knowing that Dwight could keep her safe, it didn’t diminish the feelings of fear the story evoked.
With such a suspenseful build up, one would expect an explosive conclusion. Unfortunately, it did not go as expected. The outcome was good, but I hoped for more. Despite the disappointment with the conclusion of the suspense angle, 🎧︎Home for a Cowboy Christmas was a satisfying holiday romance.
Narration
Nikki Zakocs narrated, and she did a great job with the narration. Her male and female voices were well done, and her pace and tone worked great for the story.

This is tempting, I haven’t read a good cowboy tale in ages.
I really enjoyed this one, but yeah, the ending was… unexpected. Happy Holidays, Nadene!
Who doesn’t love a good cowboy story, and this one sounds like it hit the mark for sure! Ironically, I’ve found myself watching cowboy series and movies a lot more this year than I ever have in my life.(lol) Hope you’re doing well, and wishing you a Merry Christmas! p.s. I love how you’ve set up the new blog. Hugs, RO
