I almost did not read this book, as it led me to believe that I had to read the previous books in the series prior to reading Silent Night, Deadly Night. However, a glance at a few reviews from readers who like me never read the previous books, reassured me I would have no issues jumping at book number six. I am glad I did, as this installment can stand on its own. However, after reading it, you will want to read the previous books. This story features all the characters from the other books, and it had me eager to read their stories.

In this installment members of an elite military group and their respective spouses are in preparation mode for a holiday get together at former Navy Seal, turn CIA contractor Luke Hutchinson’s home. However, danger lurks when one of their own received a mysterious envelope containing a flash drive with encrypted data. What followed was a story filled with suspense, action and danger.

I had a wonderful time meeting the characters. Their bond shined throughout the story. Despite not meeting this wonderful group before now I found myself invested in their wellbeing. There were moments when I feared for them and hoped that they would come through unscathed.

The story pulled me in and had me on the edge of my seat for most of it. The action did not let up and had me turning the pages. Amid the suspense and danger, the author delivered some heartwarming and humorous moments that had the reader laughing and tearing up a few times.

Silent Night, Deadly Night was a suspenseful, action-packed and heartwarming Christmas story, which featured awesome characters. If you are in the mood for a short and well written suspenseful story, filled with humour and brimming with emotion, then this would be a great addition to your library.

Friendships and family abound during a week of love, laughter, and happily ever afters. Catch up with your favorite characters and enjoy Bones and Sarah’s wedding while falling in love with the newest Whiskey-world couple, Penny Wilson and Scott Beckley in this Whiskey series novella.
When everything you want is right in front of you, but it's still out of reach…Penny Wilson has a successful business, more friends than a girl could ask for, and a boyfriend she’s madly and passionately in love with. Scott Beckley is honest, loyal, hands down the best lover on the planet, and absolutely gaga over his nieces and nephews. Scott’s a keeper…as long as Penny doesn’t ever want to hear those three magical words that would take their relationship to the next level. Scott escaped abusive parents at seventeen and was forced to find his way alone in the world. Even though it’s been more than a decade and he’s reunited with his estranged sisters and built a good life in Peaceful Harbor, Maryland, he’s still tortured by his past. Penny knows he loves her with everything he has, but for a girl who wants a family and a guy who is afraid of having one, love might not be enough.

I have been looking forward to Scott and Penny’s story after being introduced to them in The Gritty Truth, where I learnt they were in a relationship. Scott did not have an easy childhood. He grew up in an abusive environment, which he escaped when he was seventeen years old. However, he bears the emotional scars associated with his past, which hindered him from forming relationships with women. Meeting Penny brought about changes, but although their relationship has grown, he feared becoming a father and verbally expressing his feelings.

In For A Penny delivered a short but sweet, passionate romance brimming with emotions and sprinkled with humour. The reader got the chance to follow Scott and Penny as they navigated the ups and downs of their relationship. Penny wanted what Scott feared giving her, and it weighed heavily on her. I felt her pain and my heart wept for her as she struggled with deciding whether to let go or fight for the man she loves. I loved how well they communicated with each other and the way they worked through their issues.

It was fun catching up with characters from the previous books and being present at Bones and Sarahs’ wedding.

In For A Penny was a delicious romantic story, which featured outstanding characters whom you can’t help but fall in love with. Another beautiful story from Melissa Foster.
